If you're heading to a baby shower, you want to bring something thoughtful and practical. As a mum of two and a newborn photographer in Wyndham and Bacchus Marsh, I’ve seen it all, so today I’m sharing the baby shower gifts I’ve used and loved most (and some my clients rave about too!).

1. Euky Bear Steam Vaporiser

This classic Australian favourite is a lifesaver during the winter months. It’s gentle, effective, and soothing for little ones struggling with congestion or coughs. It's something new parents might not think of buying until their little on gets their first cold, but is always appreciated when the time comes.

2. Haakaa Breast Pump

Compact, silent, and seriously effective - I absolutely loved mine, especially in the first 6 weeks to catch any let down and freeze for later! They can also come with super cute flower stoppers to reduce the chance of any spilling.

Purchase on Amazon here.

3. Nappies are always a Win

It might not feel exciting, but trust me, no one ever says “Oh no, more nappies!” Pop them in a cute basket or wrap them with a muslin for an easy but essential gift. If you are worried about having too many, you can always go up a size or two!

4. Big W Cloth Nappies as Burp Cloths

These absorbent cloth nappies from Big W are amazing for newborn life. Mums use them for burping, spills, pram liners - you name it. These are another item I always have handy during a newborn photography session so I can prepare for any reflux!

Purchase from Big W here.

5. ErgoPouch White Noise Machine

Soft, portable, and sleep-saving. White noise is a magic trick for settling babies, especially in the fourth trimester. The ErgoPouch model is compact and rechargeable and offers a range of sound options, volumes and even a nightlight. It is perfect to hang from the pram or cot and it's what I use during my newborn photography sessions to help baby's feel safe and calm.

Purchase on Amazon here.

Tip from a local newborn photographer: Pair a practical gift with something sentimental like a printed photo voucher, photo frame or a beautiful book (my favourite is Kissed by the Moon by Alison Lester. It’s a thoughtful combo that feels extra special.
