Not long ago, I had the chance to attend the Ana Brandt World Tour here in Melbourne. It was an incredible two-day event filled with learning, photographing, and connecting with other photographers. I left feeling inspired, supported, and excited to try new ideas in my photography.
Ana Brandt is a world-renowned maternity and newborn photographer and educator. The opportunity to learn from her in person was incredibly special. The workshop included live demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to ask questions along the way. We took our own images during the sessions, guided family and maternity posing ourselves, and then edited our photos afterwards, applying tips and feedback from Ana.
Across the two days, we worked with live models. This included three newborn sessions, one of which featured family photos, and one maternity session. It was such a well-rounded experience that covered maternity, newborn, and family photography.
One of my main goals for attending was to refine my lighting skills. I walked away feeling much more confident and intentional in this area. The maternity and family posing component was especially valuable. It helped me improve how I guide families into moments that feel easy, connected, and real. I learned how subtle adjustments can make a big visual difference.

Wrapping Newborns
One of my biggest takeaways from the workshop was learning to use wrapping more thoughtfully during newborn sessions. I discovered so many beautiful ways to include wrapped images. It highlighted how wrapping can help babies feel settled and secure.
This is something I’ve already started incorporating more into my newborn photography sessions. Starting with wrapped photos has helped create a calmer, smoother session flow. This means less time settling the baby and a more relaxed experience for both parents and baby.
Connection, Community, and Confidence
Another highlight was meeting other photographers attending the workshop. It was lovely working alongside others who share the same passion for maternity and newborn photography. Learning together in such a supportive space was truly enriching.
Meeting Ana Brandt herself was a special moment. She was incredibly generous with her knowledge and created an environment where everyone felt comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
Bringing It All Back to My Clients
Since attending the workshop, I feel more confident and excited as I continue to grow and refine my work as a Melbourne maternity and newborn photographer. Ongoing education like this allows me to keep improving my skills and workflow. This way, I can offer my clients a calm, thoughtful, and enjoyable photography experience.
I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to attend the Ana Brandt World Tour. I can’t wait to keep bringing what I learned into future maternity, newborn, and family sessions.
Capturing Moments That Matter
Photography is about capturing moments that matter. I often think about how important these moments are for families. Whether it’s a maternity shoot or a newborn session, I want to create an experience that feels genuine and heartfelt. This is why I focus on building a connection with my clients. It helps me understand their vision and translate it into beautiful photographs.
If you're looking for a photographer who understands the importance of capturing your family's precious moments, I would love to help. Let’s create something beautiful together.
Thank you for joining me on this journey! I can’t wait to create lasting memories with you and your family.
